The Abstract

abstractband

From the beginning, the whole sound of The Abstract is derived from “the riff”. Each individual song is different, developing from this idea of a riff or something catchy that makes the listener want to physically move to the song. The Abstract’s fundamental sound was influenced by the artists Black Sabbath and Alice in Chains, but expanded upon the concept of their own name. The lyrical content and musicality that emulates from this group focuses on the idea of “abstract” or looking, feeling, hearing and sensing in different ways that the common man/musician does not. A deep, thick, and crunchy guitar tone can be heard among a bass that compliments the guitar in the melodies with a warm and full sound, both intertwined with drums that capture the emotion and dynamic aspect of the musicality. Together, The Abstract produces a full, thick, and heavy sound that at its roots is true rock’n’roll, however, at the surface does not sacrifice melody or harmony. It has always been and always will be the goal and focus of this group to put out and play music that will one day influence younger musicians to pick up and play the way past artists have for The Abstract.
